Marshalltown Math Team near the top at Regionals

The Marshalltown High School Math Team competed at the Great Plains Regional Math League contest in Kansas City, Mo., May 18, placing second in the team round and fifth place overall.

Nineteen teams from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and California competed in Kansas City, with five teams from each state except California (which had four).

Marshalltown’s fifth place finish was just behind the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing. Iowa City West won the event.

The six students representing Marshalltown were:  Molly Finn, Jaleb Jay, Xing Xing, Ben Anzis, James Talbot and Nicole Lacina.
